Sometimes what appears to be a loss can be turned into an opportunity. For instance, ff you've invested in stock that has depreciated with the impact of the recent economy, you may be able to benefit from that "loss" through making a charitable contribution with your stock. Your gift of stock in this new tax year may help you offset income and reduce your overall taxes for 2010, as allowable by law. Or, if you have been among those who have appreciated stock, your tax-deductible gift may give you the blessing of reducing your income and lowering your tax exposure. In either case, your tax advisor would be a great resource for you to see if this would benefit you and meet your stewardship needs. We'd be happy to help you facilitate a gift which will have eternal impact to either Family Life Radio, the ministry of Intentional Living, or both.
IRAs are another way to make a charitable gift to your favorite charity. If you are 70½ or older, you can contribute through your IRA minimum required distribution this year. You'll want to talk to your asset management company about the need to have the contribution directly from them to the organization and to your tax advisor about the personal tax benefits you will receive through this tax-deductible gift. We'd be happy to you with necessary transfer information such as our tax ID numbers for Family Life Radio or the ministry of Intentional Living when you make a gift of stock or give through an IRA account distribution.
