Lansing Translator Project
Right now most of our Lansing listeners hear us on WUGN at 99.7 FM. But the closer you drive toward downtown, the weaker the signal and the more static you hear. After the launch of our new Lansing translator station, which will be just one “click” away from 99.7 to 99.9, you’ll be able to hear a signal that is 3 to 4 times stronger and clearer!
Normally blanketing a population of 260,000 people in a city the size of Lansing would cost about $150,000 to build or three quarters of a million dollars to purchase an existing station. But because this 190 watt translator station will be broadcasting from atop a tower in a central location in Lansing, we can build and operate it for a small fraction of the cost of a full power station. Yet, the entire city of Lansing – the state capital - will be able to tune in a powerful signal. And the cost for the entire project is only $55,000.
