The Miss America pageant is moving. They’re heading back to their roots. The pageant has been showcased in Las Vegas for the last several years. They will now be in Atlantic City, New Jersey. The next pageant is scheduled for September.
Prescription drug use is an epidemic. Michael Cartwright is a former addict. He is now chairman of the American Addiction Centers. Cartwright says people slip into prescription drug abuse."I think what happens is, people get a pain medication for something like a dental issue. But, overtime they find themselves using the drugs more and more. Health and Human Services says 6.3 million Americans abuse prescription drugs in the U-S, it’s a huge problem" Cartwright wrote Believable Hope so addicts will realize they're not alone. Employees of Family Life Radio are taking the 30 day challenge by adopting a family in need. The Salvation Army is providing shelter. Bill Rupert says “We can put the message out and we need to put the message out. We have a terrific message, the gospel, but sometimes we as a body just have to step up and be the hands and feet and live out what we teach.” As we continue on this journey, we’ll share more with you about how it’s going.
