Getting Specific with Finances

I heard you talking about the 30-Day Challenge of being intentional. Our family implemented this last year instead of the failure-destined resolutions. Financially speaking, we opted not to eat out in restaurants for a month.

We started the habit of taking a cooler full of drinks, sandwiches, snacks, etc. with us on trips. We had an additional $200 at month’s end. Another monthly challenge was to make one trip to Walmart or the grocery store per week. This was a significant savings effort! It takes planning, so your family becomes intimately involved.

This year we are starting out with a weekly financial meeting, no matter what. We go over bills, debt, savings, investments, spending plans, etc. – even if nothing has changed. This exercise is to keep where we stand financially fresh in our minds. It helps us look for ideas and solutions to becoming debt free.

I hope this helps others become specific in living their intentional life.
