Phil Wickham Shares God’s Love

Raised in a Christian home with parents who were worship leaders, Phil Wickham is carrying on the family tradition of spreading God’s love through music.

Leading his youth group worship at the age of 12 and releasing his first album at 18, the singer/songwriter is intentional in his love for God and he shares it with others through his music.

True Love
, from the album Cannons, is about the work of the cross and the truest of loves ever known. “I would never want to leave a stage without talking about the work of Jesus Christ, what He did on the cross and that He resurrected and He did it for us that we might know life,” Phil confesses.

The event-oriented album, Heaven & Earth, has an intentional storyline. Continuing to share God’s love for us, Phil’s fourth studio album begins with Eden, which describes the longing for God that He created in the human heart and ends with Heaven Song, the story of a man walking through the pearly gates and his experience in Heaven.

Phil describes the songs in-between this way, “In the middle is Jesus and what He did on the cross. As it continues on, it talks about God’s soon coming and His city we will be in one day.”

The first single, Safe, was inspired by a real-life person, John, who’s story impacted Phil. “I wanted to have a song that reminded people of what John reminded me, that God is in control; that the same arms that hung on the cross and the same hands that reached out to the people in need in Jesus Christ, are the same hands that are reaching out to us [in love] today,” Phil explains. “Just as powerful, just as ready to heal and to lift up and provide.”

“I’m really excited to have these new songs to play over the next couple years. They are all so full of hope and excitement and the fact that we, who are called ‘children of God,’ will see God one day.”
