Family Life Radio Honors Cathi Herrod
A 21st Century Deborah
TUCSON, AZ, October 10, 2012 – Today Dr. Randy Carlson, President of Family Life Radio, honored Cathi Herrod as a "21st Century Deborah."
Carlson compared Herrod to the biblical leader Deborah, “a strong woman who moved in a world of men…who led her people into battle with strength and conviction” from Judges 3-4.
Herrod serves as President of the Center for Arizona Policy (CAP), a leading organization in Arizona actively standing at the legislature and in the media promoting and defending conservative values of life, marriage and family as well as religious liberty.
CAP plays an important role in Arizona. In fact, more than one hundred CAP-supported bills have been enacted into Arizona law. Fifty-one of them occurred in the last four years including laws that limit abortion procedures. According to Herrod, abortions in Arizona have dropped by 7.3% in the last year. “That’s 1,100 fewer abortions,” she stated.
Herrod shared that she is driven first as a mom. She could not be silent when girls as young as 12 years in age could enter an abortion clinic and receive services. Second, she is motivated by God’s Word which calls her to be salt and light in the world, to expose the evil deeds of darkness.
And third, Herrod sees that lives of the unborn as well as women are at stake. “Abortion has consequences,” Herrod warned as she shared the personal story of a close friend who experienced life-long mental and emotion turmoil as a result of having an abortion at the age of 17.
These are all real world issues. And to affect change, Herrod enourages everyone to vote. “Go vote your values,” she stated. “We have the freedom to vote…[and] we serve a sovereign God, we can trust Him with the results.”
