Nidal Malik Hasan, the alleged shooter in last week’s rampage at Fort Hood, has now officially been charged with 13 counts of premeditated murder. A spokesman for the Army's criminal investigation division says more charges could be on the way as they look into motives for the attack. Authorities are investigating how the warning signs were missed.
President Obama is in Japan for the first leg of an Asian trip, but his mind seems to be on the war in Afghanistan. The general feeling around Washington is that the president will send more troops to fight in Afghanistan, though we probably won’t know for sure until next week.
The H1N1 outbreak is really starting to play havoc with the nation’s emergency rooms. One small hospital outside of Washington began planning last April for the influx of patients but they’re still swamped. Tracy Turman heads up emergency preparedness for the hospital. Typically he says their ER sees about 80 patients a day, but right now they’re nearly double that.

Fox News has learned that the health insurance plan that the Republican National Committee offers its workers covers elective abortions. RNC Chairman Michael Steele says he just found out about it yesterday, and has already informed the insurance carrier that they want to opt out.
The federal deficit is now higher than ever. That could make it harder for you to borrow money. The numbers were released yesterday, $176.4 billion for October. Some economists worry if deficits like that continue it could push interest rates up, and drag the economy down again.
Researchers in Japan say they’ve successfully created embryos in a lab using eggs from two different moms. Apparently the idea is to use the young mom’s eggs to repair damaged eggs of older women.
