A Confident Place

And Moses said to the people, “Fear not, stand firm, and see the salvation of the Lord, which he will work for you today. For the Egyptians whom you see today, you shall never see again.”

─ Exodus 14:13

Slaves to the Egyptians more than 400 years, the Israelites stood at the threshold of freedom. The only problem was the Red Sea as far as they could see. And behind them were 600 of Pharaoh’s finest soldiers. Even after a miraculous deliverance from Egypt, they still feared God could not save them.

Fear’s assignment is to persuade you to doubt that God will keep His promises. Fear tries to convince us to give up on God’s purpose and plan. When we allow doubt to enter our minds, it infects our faith.

Repeatedly throughout the Bible, God gives clear instruction to His people—and to us—not to fear. The Holy Spirit can and does help us when we ask, but the decision to refuse to succumb to fear is on us. Fear wants to separate us from God’s best, but faith carries us past fear to a confident place in God.

When we stand firm and don’t let fear overcome us, we’ll see the salvation of the Lord.
