Faith Requires Action

The Lord will be your confidence and will keep your foot from being caught.

─ Proverbs 3:26

“Babe, this is getting ridiculous,” Cameron called to his wife Celia. “Are you going to apply for that promotion or not?”

Celia, usually a fairly confident person, suddenly seemed unsteady in her decision making. She had wavered back and forth for more than two weeks about a new position within her company. “What are you afraid of?” Cameron asked.

“I’m afraid of making a mistake,” she admitted softly. “If I do this, it will change so many things, even many of the relationships I have at work. I’ve never done this type of job before.”

Her husband encouraged her. “Whatever you decide to do, I’ll support you. But how will you know if you don’t take action? I know it can feel a little scary, but how will you feel if you don’t apply? Maybe it’s time to step out and see what happens.

Faith requires action. We may not always make the right decisions, but living in fear of what might be will not help us discover if we’re headed in the right direction. Let’s pray for direction and then make decisions. The Lord will lead us.

Today’s One Thing

Are you vacillating about a decision you need to make? Pray about it today. Trust God to give you wisdom, and follow His peace as you make that decision.
