The typhoon that blew through the Philippines over the weekend was one of the worst to make landfall in recorded history.

“In some cases, the devastation has been total,” Filipino Secretary to the Cabinet Rene Almendras told reporters Monday.

This uncut video shows the damage in the Philippines from the typhoon Yolanda/Haiyan.

At least 2 million were affected by the powerful storm. Officials estimate more than 10,000 were killed. More than 600,000 were left homeless.

Rescue vehicles were being hampered by destruction to homes, businesses and government buildings. Trees and power lines were twisted in the 200 mph winds.

Family Life Radio and Intentional Living are heard by hundreds in the Philippines, and many also like our Facebook pages.

If you’re able to send relief to those affected, contact your favorite local charity.

In the meantime, many religious organizations are directing prayer toward the Philippines.

I have been praying but I also felt God calling me to do more than just pray He wanted me to act. So today I set into motion. I started cutting blocks out of fabric to make quilts and I have put up on facebook for yard sales and areas around me sites that I am looking for people who have fabric or yarn that they do not want or use along with old jeans that can be cut up and used to make blankets and quilts. These people have nothing. I may not have money but I have a little bit of fabric and a sewing machine and I asked God to give me a way to get these items to people who would need them. God answered that prayer through a friend of mine who has family and friends who are over there. She told me to let her know when I am ready and she will get me the information I need to send them so people will recieve them. It may be something small and I may only be able to make a few but a few is better than none. I am hoping that our community will see the post and other people will do the same whether it be making blankets or buying or helping in whatever way they can and they feel God calling them to. The road for these people is going to be a long and sad journey as they find little left of their lives. As I make these blankets I pray that when they are recieved, these people will know that they are loved and not forgotten and that God is with them in their darkest hour. I only hope they bring a little bit of comfort to them. I am hoping people all across the country will stop and help. We have so much to be thankful for and God is so good. Let us be a blessing to those who have so little and who have lost everything. Let us help one another like God intended us to.
