Advancement and Stewardship Director – Albuquerque, New Mexico

Telecommuting permitted, working from home anywhere in the Albuquerque area.

The Advancement and Stewardship Director – Albuquerque, New Mexico will make an impact for Christ in New Mexico and the world. The person in this position is responsible for portfolio management of approximately 100 donors and prospects primarily in New Mexico but also in Colorado, Kansas, and West Texas and will execute identification, research, analysis, development of strategy for cultivating relationships that result in raising funds to accomplish ministry campaigns, events, and initiatives. Conducts networking and research to enlarge the pool of potential qualified prospects. Writes project proposals and ministry updates. Requires excellent administration and organizational skills, proficiencies in all Microsoft Office applications, and some travel within the region and ability to work some evenings and weekends.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Represents the ministry well with integrity and develops professional relationships
  • Develops networks of individual, corporate & foundation networks conducting interviews, meetings, and presentations
  • Assesses capacity, propensity, and peer-to-peer ministry linkages, updating corporate records
  • Plans and implements local funding campaigns, events, and tours of station
  • Manages and executes recognition and appreciation system (thank you calls, notes, letters) and reporting
  • Provides timely reports of all gift stewardship meetings, note and call outcomes, as well as assessing and executing the next stewardship advancement action
  • Collaborates with Director to integrate current giving and planned giving concepts as appropriate
  • May be responsible to facilitate planned giving seminar events

NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Develops and provides coordination for local fundraising events, mailings, reminders, etc.
  • Develops and provides coordination of volunteer involvement for events, as needed; also assists with the coordination of ministry champions who have a passion for assisting with peer-to-peer cultivation or solicitation
  • Develops and maintains proactive automated system to manage special gift recognition opportunities

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s in Ministry, Fundraising, Communications or other related fields or equivalent education and experience
  • Five (5) years of fundraising, donor relations experience personally securing 5+ figure gifts
  • Proven experience in major individual gift fundraising and knowledge of development “best practices”

  • Solid relationship-building skills. Integrity and track record of ability to develop and maintain relationships with individuals of diverse backgrounds
  • Proven critical thinking ability and discernment skills of donor/prospects’ needs for alignment with stewardship opportunities
  • Broad knowledge of the stewardship cycle
  • Proven drive & ability to perform the “Ask”
  • Professional comportment and ability to effectively represent FLC with integrity; requires maturity, poise, professionalism, social skills, and professional appearance
  • Proven ability to plan, prioritize & perform multiple projects of complex work in a fast paced work environment
  • Demonstrated high level organizational and event facilitation skills
  • Knowledge of benefits of planned giving as an integral part of charitable giving, personal assets and gift options
  • Demonstrated leadership and the ability to successfully manage multi-functional or diverse areas
  • Proven, focused, & self-motivated starter; able to work independently
  • Excellent communication & passionate presentation, writing & research skills
  • Excellent administration, reporting, research analytical, and time management skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, & Outlook
  • Ability to compose notes during donor survey interviews that accurately reflect/recap donor response(s)
