Word for Your Life
“We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life.“ ~ Romans 6:4
A Year with Aslan from The Last Battle
More often than not, we are really bad at impersonating Christ. An ape named Shift has made a lion’s skin to drape over a donkey named Puzzle – & it looks ridiculous. It says:
No one who had ever seen a real lion would have been taken in for a moment, BUT if someone who had never seen a lion looked at Puzzle, & the light wasn’t too good, & Puzzle didn’t let out a bray, he just may be mistaken for a lion.
It’s been said that the best way to spot a counterfeit isn’t to examine all the fakes, but to get to know the real thing so well – that the fake is easy to see.
“The history of Israel & Judah points us to 1 truth – the masses are, or soon will be, what their leaders are. Whatever kind of man the king turned out to be, the people soon followed. It happened with David, Solomon, Jeroboam, & Hezekiah. & it happens today. For better or worse, religious people follow leaders. A good man may change the moral complexion of a nation.” ~ A.W. Tozer, God Tells the Man Who Cares
“Love is a choice. Even the words we use, like ‘I Fell In Love’, make it sound like we had no choice. We do. Love can’t be forced, including your relationship with God. Deuteronomy 30 makes this clear. ‘I’ve set before you life & death, blessings & cursings, now choose life so that you & your children may live & love the Lord.” ~ Pastor Rick Warren, Daily Hope
“After God opens the eyes of our heart, it is important that we act on what we see. In Lamentations 3:40, the prophet Jeremiah tells the people..
Let us examine our ways & test them, & let us return to the Lord.
He’s just got done teaching about all the stuff has happened because of their sin, but then calls the people to examine their actions & their thoughts, & understand that a new way of thinking will bring new results, as we examine our ways with his eyes.” ~ Daily Walk Devotion, Intentional Living Center
“It is of no use to ask God with earnestness for ‘A’ when our whole mind is in reality filled with ‘B’. We must lay before him what IS in us, not what OUGHT TO BE in us.” ~ CS Lewis, Letters To Malcolm
“Why is it so hard to accept grace? Ever argue over a check? We love to give charity, we hate to receive it. We like to think of God’s love as Romeo & Juliet, when it’s more like the Taming of the Shrew.” ~ Donald Miller, Blue Like Jazz
“Often the soundest minds have not been in sound bodies. Michelangelo once said “The more the marble wears, the better the image grows” – & the same is true for us. God enlarges us on the inside, & the nervous energy we expend in God’s work means a grander weight of glory & spiritual insight.“ ~ Oswald Chambers, The Love of God
