The Fourth Candle of Advent (Peace)
In many traditions the fourth week of Advent is when we light the Candle of Joy, reminding us that Jesus comes to bring peace to both the world and to people’s hearts. Without Christ there is no peace in this world.
Prophetic Verse: “For unto us a child is born, unto us a Son is given. And the government shall be upon his shoulder, and his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, the Mighty God, the Everlasting Father, the Prince of Peace.” Isaiah 9:6-7
Fulfillment of Prophecy: “…the Dayspring from on high has visited us; To give light to those who sit in darkness and the shadow of death, to guide our feet into the way of peace.” Luke 1: 78b-79
“And when the parents brought in the Christ Jesus, to do for Him according to the custom of the law, he took Him up in his arms and blessed God and said: ‘Lord, now You are letting Your servant depart in peace, according to your word; for my eyes have seen Your salvation which you have prepared before the face of all peoples; a light to bring revleation to the Gentiles and the glory of Your people Israel.
