Scandal of Grace
Joel Houston with Hillsong on the song Scandal of Grace.
A Year with Aslan from Prince Caspian
When our eyes are opened we’re able to better discern the plans of those who might cause us harm.
Miraz could have used that Two Lords are speaking with the king about whether he should go into battle against Peter.
They want him to go, so if he dies they can have more power, but they keep telling him don’t go.
However the way they say it makes it look like people will think he’s a coward if he doesn’t accept the challenge, & in the end Miraz says ..
I had meant to refuse it, but I’ll accept it. Do you hear? I’LL ACCEPT IT. I won’t be shamed because some witchcraft of treason has frozen you.
Because he didn’t have access to seeing things clearly, thru God’s eyes, Miraz was goaded into battle.
Let’s not let that be said of us.
“When we worship God, we worship a Being our life experience does not give us the tools to understand. If we could, God would not inspire awe. All the wonder of God happens above our formula. The more I climb outside my pat answers, the more invigorating the view – & the more my heart enters into worship.” ~ Donald Miller, Blue Like Jazz
“When a conscience become seared, when a man has played with fire & burned his conscience until he can handle the hot iron of sin without shinking, there is no longer any safety for him. & people like that, he says, are reprobates – something just washed up on shore, a moral shipwreck.” ~ A.W. Tozer, Echoes from Eden
“In 1838, after a long fight, emancipation was given to blacks in Jamaica. It was set to take effect August 1. On the last nite of July, a big group of former slaves dug a deep hole on the beach, lowered an empty coffin into it, & then threw symbols of their slavery in on top of it. Things like leg irons, whips, & padlocks. A few minutes before midnite, they pushed the sand over it & sang the Doxology. Praise God from whom all blessing flow. So are you hanging onto your symbols, or burying them & praising God?” ~ Author Unknown
“Even the children of Israel had to decide what voices to listen to, but Deuteronomy 13 says that was a test to find out whether they loved God. The same is true for us. We pass the test by continually asking “How will this benefit the Lord”, & then waiting for his response.” ~ Daily Walk Devotion, Intentional Living Center
“A lot of times we wonder if an idea came from God, the Devil, or just something we want to do. But the Bible says to find out you’ve got to test it first. If the idea contradicts God’s Word, it didn’t come from him. God is consistent. He’s not moody. & He won’t tell you to violate something he’s written in His Word.” ~ Pastor Rick Warren, Daily Hope
