“Lord, may those who hope in you not be disgraced because of me; God of Israel, may those who seek you not be put to shame because of me.” ~ Psalm 69:6
A Year with Aslan from The Horse & His Boy
Shasta has just finished a nice dinner with Tumnus & begins to worry where the others are – but soon his thoughts spiral out of control to the point that he starts saying things to himself like ..
If Aravis thinks she’s too good to go about with me, she can jolly well go alone.
Isn’t that the way for us? We can start with genuine concern for others, but before long we start making excuses – & end worried more about ourselves.
“I’ve had times in my life & ministry when the burdens & pressures seemed too much. Sometimes physical weariness adds to our temptation to give in to discouragement & doubt. More than once, by faith that seemed to be imparted directly from heaven, I have been given freedom & strength to pray – & great burdens have melted away.” ~ A.W. Tozer
“God’s silences are actually His answers. God will give you the very blessings you ask if you refuse to go any further without them, but His silence is the sign that He’s bringing you into an even more wonderful understanding of Himself. & His stillness is contagious. It gets into you, causing you to become perfectly confident, & his silence will be the first sign of His intimacy.” ~ Oswald Chambers, My Utmost for His Highest
“God put us here to work, & we need people to work with us. It’s like a snowflake. Every one of them is unique, but when they stick together they can stop traffic. The same is true for us – We can make a big difference for His kingdom, if we stick together.” ~ Pastor Rick Warren, Daily Hope
“David’s cry in Psalm 118 is this: In my anguish I cried out to the Lord, & he answered by setting me free. The key word there is “IN.” In my anguish. David didn’t wait until the trial was past, or his sorrow was over, but praised Him in & thru-out the storm.” ~ Daily Walk Devotion, Intentional Living Center
