Word for Your Life

“In the beginning, Lord, you laid the foundations of the earth, and the heavens are the work of your hands. ~ Hebrews 1:10

A Year with Aslan from The Horse & His Boy

  • Shasta
  • had heard all these terrible stories about a demon in the form of a Lion, but when he meets Aslan ..

After one glance at the Lion’s face he slipped out of the saddle & fell at its feet.  He couldn’t say anything but he didn’t want to say anything, & he knew he didn’t have to.  Their eyes met, & instantly the pale brightness of the mist & the fiery brightness of the Lion rolled together into a swirling glory.

We would probably be satisfied with just Jesus’ sacrifice, but He gives us so much more.

A-W Tozer ~ Rut, Rot, or Revival

If you don’t pray much, you’re not thinking God’s thoughts.  If you don’t read your Bible much, & often, & reverently, you’re not thinking God’s thoughts.  We’re responsible for our premeditative thoughts.  They make our mind a temple where God can dwell with pleasure – or a stable where Christ is angry, ties a rope & drives out the cattle.

Pastor Rick Warren, Daily Hope Devotion

The more pleasant you are, the more persuasive you are.  Nagging doesn’t work.  It matters not only what you say .. but the WAY you say it.  If you want to be below the other person, attack them.  If you want to be even, get even.  If you want to respond like Jesus, show love.

Daily Walk Devotion, Intentional Living Center

It used to be that the family was portrayed in a positive light in Hollywood.  Those days are gone, but even though the dark may seem darker than ever it is a great opportunity to show others what a biblical family looks like.  As it says in Matthew 5:16 ,,,

Let your light shine before men, that they may see your good works & glorify your Father in heaven.

Donald Miller, Blue Like Jazz

Deep belief costs something.  If I really believed something, I’d have to do something about it.

Francis Chan, Multiply

The disciples could not have fully understood what they were getting into when they responded to Jesus’ call.  Whatever expectations or doubts, whatever curiosity, excitement or uncertainty they felt, nothing could have prepared them for what lay ahead.  In only a few years, these simple men were standing before some of the most powerful rulers on earth & being accused of turning the world upside down.  What began as simple obedience ended up changing their lives, & ultimately, the world.
