The Gift of Contentment

Contentment

Do you ever wake up in the morning just worried about stuff? This stuff…that stuff…all kinds of stuff? As if worrying is the answer to overcoming the obstacles that lay before us.

I do that sometimes. It’s a terrible way to start the day.

There is another way to approach life and all of its complexities… and it’s found in that old hymn “What a friend we have in Jesus”…All our sins and griefs to bear…What a privilege to carry… everything to God in Prayer.

That is the better approach to life…. counting on God to bring contentment to an otherwise anxious heart and mind.

We may not be able to choose our circumstances but we can choose our attitude and the way we respond to our circumstances.

The apostle Paul gave us an example of how this works. He wrote…I have learned in whatever state I am…to be content…I can do all things through Christ who Strengthens me.

We do have a choice to be content…knowing that whatever our situation may be…we can draw on the power of Christ for the strength to rise above it.
