6-Year-Old Girl with Cancer Becomes Officer for a Day

6-Year-Old Girl with Terminal Cancer Becomes Honorary Officer for a Day

Abigail has been fighting the bad guys for a long time now.  That’s what she calls the cancer in her heart and lungs: “The Bad Guys”. Sadly, her doctors don’t know of any treatment or chemotherapy that can cure her. So, Abigail believed that the best way to fight her bad guys was to become a police officer.

She and her family contacted the Chief of Police in Freeport, Texas and told him about Abigail’s story. After hearing about her cancer and dream to become a police officer, Chief Ray Garivey said “We’re going to make that happen”.

Just this past Thursday, they held a swearing-in for the 6-year-old where Abigail vowed “to keep fighting the bad guys until all my cancer’s gone”. Chief Garivey couldn’t hold his tears in.

The amount of faith in this young girl to keep on fighting against the “bad guys”, to me, is absolutely astounding. Instead of living in fear of her cancer, she lives out every day to the fullest and follows her dreams.

God said it perfectly in Joshua 1:9:  “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go.”

I think Abigail is doing a great job of that!
