Let Freedom Reign! / / Austin French

Austin French wrote Freedom Hymn because he hopes it’s a song that allows us to sing the words our hearts want to express. Austin grew up in church Georgia. God moved him further South so he could learn from the recovery community in Delray Beach, Florida. Austin learned it’s ok to not be ok because that’s when you leave yourself open to find Jesus. We are all recovering from something. We all have a song to sing because we have been forgiven. We have been set free. Jesus is the author of that Freedom Hymn.

John 8:36 “So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.”

God is Always There!

God is using Even If by MercyMe to impact the life of Family Life Radio member Rick. The song helps us remember God is in control even if things don’t turn out the way we plan.

Even If
They say sometimes you win some
Sometimes you lose some
And right now, right now I’m losing bad
I’ve stood on this stage night after night
Reminding the broken it’ll be alright
But right now, oh right now I just can’t
It’s easy to sing
When there’s nothing to bring me down
But what will I say
When I’m held to the flame
Like I am right now
I know You’re able and I know You can
Save through the fire with Your mighty hand
But even if You don’t
My hope is You alone
They say it only takes a little faith
To move a mountain
Well good thing
A little faith is all I have, right now
But God, when You choose
To leave mountains unmovable
Oh give me the strength to be able to sing
It is well with my soul
I know You’re able and I know You can
Save through the fire with Your mighty hand
But even if You don’t
My hope is You alone
I know the sorrow, and I know the hurt
Would all go away if You’d just say the word
But even if You don’t
My hope is You alone
You’ve been faithful, You’ve been good
All of my days
Jesus, I will cling to You
Come what may
‘Cause I know You’re able
I know You can
I know You’re able and I know You can
Save through the fire with Your mighty hand
But even if You don’t
My hope is You alone
I know the sorrow, I know the hurt
Would all go away if You’d just say the word
But even if You don’t
My hope is You alone
It is well with my soul
It is well, it is well with my soul

The Race of Suffering // Laura Wilson

It’s hard to remember God is with us when life feels like it is upside down. Cancer Survivor Laura Wilson learned God is sovereign even when it doesn’t feel like it because of our circumstances. She says life can be scary, ugly and hard. Adversity comes in this fallen world, but we are not alone.    God is listening. God is in control.  Laura says it can be a moment by moment decision to trust Him that’s why life is a race of faith. Laura encourages us to hold onto our hope in Christ. She has more in her new book Strength to Run.

Biggest Blessing

As we reflect on 2017, what was your biggest blessing of the year? God is faithful!

It may seem difficult to pick just one. Laura is grateful her brother has been healed of cancer. Bryan is thankful for a healthy and happy family.  Audrey is excited for her husband’s job promotion. Rod recognizes not everyone is blessed with being able to see all of their family for the holidays, he treasures the fact that he can! Heather is appreciative of God’s provision to go to Seminary.

Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed, His compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness. Lamentations 3:22-23 (New International Version – NIV)

You are Forgiven! // We Are Messengers

We are forgiven by God. He loves us.  It is easier said than done to transfer that head knowledge to heart knowledge, so we can forgive ourselves. Love yourself as a child of God. It’s easier said than done because of the hurt we experience this side of Heaven. Place those hurts at God’s feet. He is the healer.

Lord my God, I called to you for help, and you healed me. Psalm 30:2

Believe Him for the healing and by doing so, we point the glory back to God! Darren Mulligan from We Are Messengers shares the story behind their song Point to You.

You Can Walk on Water!

Needtobreathe and Matt Maher collaborated on the song Walking on Water. Bear from Needtobreathe and Matt Maher reveal what they were thinking of as they created the song. They focus on the good that came from Peter’s example in Matthew 14 when he got out of the boat to walk on water and obey Jesus. When we focus on Jesus nothing is impossible. Focusing on Jesus means focusing on love. The glass is half full, not half empty! Jesus doesn’t require us to be perfect. He asks us to trust Him and take the first step. Will you take the first step?

He is the Long Awaited Promise // Battistelli

Who is Jesus? He is the anointed one. When Francesca Battistelli sat down to write Messiah, her goal was to not just have the lyrics of a Christmas song sound like a worship song, but feel like it too. Listen as she shares the story behind the song.

Jesus is our savior! There are so many names for The Lord. He is the son of God and son of Man. The story of Jesus’s birth in Bethlehem on that Holy night reminds us to worship our Savior this season. Christ is the long awaited promise for God’s people. He is our hope!

Merry Christmas!

Ushered Into the Lord’s Presence

Family Life Radio Member Rebecca is reminded to come before the presence of the Lord, worship and adore Him when she hears the Christmas hymn O Come All Ye Faithful.  It took on even deeper meaning when her husband of 40 years passed away.

Rebecca has peace knowing her husband is in the presence of the Lord. She says it’s worthy of celebration to know the Lord fully.

May you get lost in worship!

O come, all ye faithful, joyful and triumphant,
O come ye, O come ye to Bethlehem!
Come, and behold Him, born the King of angels!

Refrain:
O come, let us adore Him;
O come, let us adore Him;
O come, let us adore Him, Christ, the Lord!

Sing, choirs of angels; sing in exultation;
sing, all ye citizens of heav’n above!
Glory to God, all glory in the highest![Refrain]

Yea, Lord, we greet Thee, born this happy morning;
Jesus, to Thee be all glory giv’n!
Word of the Father, now in flesh appearing! [Refrain]

Brokenhearted Blessings

Family Life Radio member Ann Marie is going through a tough time physically and emotionally. Even in her trial where she feel like she can’t take the next breath, Ann Marie is blessed by the message of  Casting Crowns‘ song Oh My Soul. The lyrics remind us all that we are not alone in the storms of life. We can give our fears to God. He makes a way. God  is our strength. He creates beauty from ashes.

The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit. The righteous man may have many troubles, but the Lord delivers him from them all Psalm 34:18 – 19

God is in Control // Ryan Stevenson

Life sometimes throws us a curve ball. Family Life Radio member Ken identifies with that statement. Ever since his dad got into an accident, Ken has had to provide for their family. It’s been stressful and overwhelming. He is thankful for the reminder that God is in control from one of the songs we play here on Family Life Radio. Ken has been encouraged by Ryan Stevenson‘s Eye of the Storm.

May you be encouraged by the message of the song!

When the solid ground is falling out from underneath my feet
Between the black skies, and my red eyes, I can barely see
When I’m feeling like I’ve been let down by my friends and my family
I can hear the rain reminding me
In the eye of the storm, You remain in control
In the middle of the war, You guard my soul
You alone are the anchor, when my sails are torn
Your love surrounds me
In the eye of the storm
Mmm, when my hopes and dreams are far from me
And I’m runnin’ out of faith
I see the future I picture slowly fade away
And when the tears of pain and heartache
Are pouring down my face
I find my peace in Jesus’ name
In the eye of the storm
You remain in control
In the middle of the war
You guard my soul
You alone are the anchor
When my sails are torn
Your love surrounds me
In the eye of the storm
When they let me go and I just don’t know
how I’m gonna make ends meet
I did my best now I’m scared to death
that we might lose everything
And when a sickness takes my child away
And there’s nothing I can do
My only hope is to trust You
I trust You, Lord
In the eye of the storm
You remain in control
In the middle of the war
You guard my soul
You alone are the anchor
When my sails are torn
Your love surrounds me
In the eye of the storm
You remain in control
In the middle of the war
You guard my soul
You alone are the anchor
When my sails are torn
Your love surrounds me
In the eye of the storm
