A New Mindset
For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit set their minds on the things of the Spirit. For to set the mind on the flesh is death, but to set the mind on the Spirit is life and peace.
─ Romans 8:5-6
Many of us have had the mindset a time or two that God doesn’t care. We keep praying, but our mind is stuck on that thought. Eventually, it leads us to discouragement. What about the mindset that it’s too hard? It’s too hard to go back to school, to fix a relationship, to lose weight, or to save money. Eventually, if we continue with that path of thinking, we want to give up.
God desires for us to have the kind of faith that moves us to change our mindset, attitudes and decisions. Think about the term, mindset. When we get our mind set, what happens? Our mind is fixed, cemented and almost unmovable about something.
We can set our minds on Christ and things above to help break the negative mindsets (Colossians 3:2). We can do this by reading through the Bible and through prayer. We live in such a hurried world, and it’s important to stop and spend some time with God.
Today’s One Thing
Find a scripture that resonates in your heart. Write it on a 3 x 5 card; carry it around during the day; sit and think about what it means and how it applies to your life.
