Accept His Gift of a Settled Heart

Jesus can’t help but keep every single promise He has ever made. He is Truth; He cannot lie. And for that very reason, you can trust Him. When He gives His Word, His own faith is at work to make it happen. You join your faith with His when you believe. You are actually agreeing with what He has promised.

Jesus said, “I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.”
─ John 16:33 ESV

Jesus gave you His peace (John 14:27). It’s peace that comes from God. Peace in your heart and mind are a gift from Him. In our verse today, He offers you a settled heart. He wants you to know a life lived for Christ is not an easiest life, and this world is full of hardship because of the fall (Romans 3:23). This life rattles our emotions and even terrorizes us when we focus on the difficult things instead of Jesus’ promises.

He overcame the world, so there’s no reason to fear.

The choice is yours. You decide.

The choice is yours. You decide if you’re going to worry, fret and succumb to fear – or rest in the peace He’s promised you. You determine whether or not you will trust Him and allow Him to calm the storm of your heart.

Will you accept His gift of a settled heart? You can take Him at His Word and make His promises a reality in your life?

Today’s One Thing

Sit down and close your eyes for a moment. Imagine yourself awaiting a gift from a friend. By a gesture of faith, hold your hands together, palms up, ready for someone to put something in your hands. Now receive the peace Jesus has for you. Sit quietly and let His peace wash over you.
