Access His Boldness
When was the last time you felt a tug on your heart to share your faith in Jesus but hesitated because you weren’t sure how it would be received? Maybe you’ve wondered if you’re brave enough or if you’ll have the right words.
And when they had prayed, the place where they were assembled together was shaken; and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit, and they spoke the word of God with boldness.
– Acts 4:31 NKJV
Sharing the gospel can feel intimidating, especially in a world where faith isn’t always welcome. But the beautiful truth is this: we don’t have to muster up boldness on our own. The Holy Spirit is our strength and guide, just as He was for the early church.
The same Spirit who empowered the early church to stand firm and speak boldly lives in you today, ready to help you do the same.
In Acts 4, Peter and John found themselves in a difficult situation. After boldly preaching in Jesus’ name, the authorities threatened them and told them to stop speaking about Him. Imagine how easy it would’ve been for them to give in to fear and stay silent! But instead, they returned to their community of believers, and together they prayed.
They didn’t ask God to remove the threats—they asked for boldness to keep proclaiming the truth. And God answered. The Holy Spirit filled them, and they went out with renewed courage to speak the Word of God fearlessly.
Boldness doesn’t come from our own strength—it comes from the Holy Spirit. The early believers didn’t ignore their fears; they brought them to God in prayer. And He met them in their need, equipping them to keep going.
You might not face the same threats Peter and John did, but your struggles to share your faith are just as real. Maybe it’s fear of being judged, losing a friendship, or not knowing what to say. Take courage; the Holy Spirit is ready to meet you right where you are. When you lean on Him, He’ll give you the courage and words you need to share Jesus with others.
Today’s One Thing
Pray: “Holy Spirit, thank You for living in me and equipping me for everything You’ve called me to do. Sometimes I feel unsure of myself when it comes to sharing my faith, but I know You are my strength. Just as You empowered the early church, I ask You to fill me with boldness and guide me in sharing the gospel with those around me. Help me to trust Your leading and speak Your truth with love and grace. In Jesus’ name, Amen.”
