An Intimate Knowledge
Are not five sparrows sold for two pennies? And not one of them is forgotten before God. Why, even the hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear not; you are of more value than many sparrows.
— Luke 12:6-7
Remembering how deeply and intimately God loves us can sometimes be difficult.
Our everyday lives are often filled with tasks and chores, running from one spot to another, taking care of endless errands and responsibilities. We focus on the tyranny of the urgent, the big things in life that need to be handled right now. In the process we can easily overlook the small but precious things right in front of us. A new bud in a flowerpot. A neighbor’s puppy just learning his own yard. A sparrow hopping along a sidewalk.
But God overlooks nothing. He loves every element of His creation, from the tiniest creature to the deepest ocean. There is nothing too big or too small for Him. He is everywhere and has an intimate knowledge of everything.
This includes all of His children. Our problems may feel overwhelming—or we may think they are too trivial to talk to the Lord about. Nothing could be further from the truth.
He cares about sparrows. He cares about our worries, our loved ones and our daily lives. So as we go about our busy days, let’s find time to talk with God about everything going on around us.
Today’s One Thing
Make a list of worries you considered too trivial for God, and talk to Him about each one.
