Answers at the Right Time

For the vision is yet for an appointed time; But at the end it will speak, and it will not lie. Though it tarries, wait for it; Because it will surely come, It will not tarry.

─ Habakkuk 2:3 NKJV

From the perspective of a wide-eyed toddler exploring a big world to an elderly person who’s lived a long life, questions never stop. We continue to search for answers to every query we have of life.

Habakkuk, the author of the book that bears his name, brought one particular concern to God that many have continued to ask our Creator over history in a variety of ways. Habakkuk struggled to understand why God seemed to do nothing about the wickedness of society. His world back then held many similarities to our own world today, plagued with fear, oppression, persecution, lawlessness, immorality and a high disregard for God.

In response to the corruption and violence Habakkuk saw all around him, he poured out his heart to God. In our verse today, God responded to Habakkuk very much like He might reply to us today – God’s time is perfect, and when that moment arrives, His plans will become reality.

Whether it’s answers to Habakkuk’s question, or a personal question you’re waiting for God to provide you with the answer, faith in God eventually provides your answers in His time.

Today’s One Thing

What questions are you waiting on? Write them down? Ask God to sustain you in your waiting by encouraging you in your faith and revealing Himself to you in a practical way each day. When the answers come, remember the things you’ve learned about Him along the way, and thank Him for His faithfulness.
