Answers from God in Unexpected Ways

Now may He who supplies seed to the sower, and bread for food, supply and multiply the seed you have sown and increase the fruits of your righteousness.

─ 2 Corinthians 9:10 NKJV

Today’s verse is God’s promise to you to provide everything you’ll ever need. If you just scanned today’s verse, go back and read it again. Look closely at how God meets your needs in every area of your life.

First, look at the way your Father provides for your physical needs. He gives seeds to the sower, illustrating His capacity to deliver all you need physically, and Jesus said if you seek God first, He’ll take care of all your spiritual needs (John 6:33).

Look at our verse again and think about what 2 Corinthians 9:10 means to you spiritually. Jesus said seeds signify God’s Word – the truth about His gift of abundant life and salvation — and when carefully planted in good soil, it produces a bountiful harvest (Matthew 13:3-8). He also said your faith, even if it’s no bigger than a tiny mustard seed, can produce because nothing will be impossible for you (Matthew 17:20).

When you’re focused on what you think is missing – what you don’t have – it keeps you from focusing on what God has provided. You can completely overlook the very answer He’s made available to you because your heart may be grieving for what you don’t have. God has promised to meet your needs. Grab hold of that promise, turn your focus to Him and watch for Him to bless you in unexpected ways.

Today’s One Thing

Some great ways to turn your focus to God is to remember the times He’s come through for you. Remember what He’s provided in the past, what He’s saved you from, and give Him praise today as you remember. Expect Him to do it again in unexpected ways.
