Be the Catalyst for Life Transformation
“I solemnly urge you in the presence of God and Christ Jesus, who will someday judge the living and the dead when he comes to set up his Kingdom: Preach the word of God. Be prepared, whether the time is favorable or not. Patiently correct, rebuke, and encourage your people with good teaching.”
─ 2 Timothy 4:1-2 NLT
Sunday evening, October 8, 1871, a great evangelist, D. L. Moody closed his sermon, telling one of his largest congregations to date to come back next week and reply to his inquiry of them through the sermon he preached as to what they should do with Jesus. Sadly, for many there was not even a tomorrow. Many of those in attendance lost their lives that night or the following day in the great Chicago fire.
It’s easy to get lost in the moment, just doing life. We are all called to something so much bigger than ourselves. No doubt Moody never gave a congregation a week to consider salvation again. And our verse commands each of us to preach the word of God – always prepared to do what we are called to do – share the love of God with others.
Sometimes we only get one chance to influence others for Christ. What determines your success or failure isn’t what you do for a living. It’s never about the job. God places you in a position to influence others for Him. What you say and do can impact others for eternity. It’s up to you whether that influence is a positive or a negative one.
