Being in the Right Room with Blessing Offor
Understanding where we belong can be transformative. Blessing Offor, a beacon of resilience and talent, shares a profound insight that resonates deeply with our spiritual journey. He says, “I think, in order to be a good collaborator, you have to be okay that the result won’t be about you… But if I’m in the right room, it’s because I know that that other person has ingredients that I need.”
“For where two or three are gathered in my name, there am I among them.”
– Matthew 18:20 ESV
Being in the right room goes beyond physical spaces; it’s about being in the right state of heart and mind, surrounded by those who bring out the best in your faith. It’s about allowing God to lead you in finding those spaces and relationships that draw you closer to Him. It’s discerning the spaces He has for you where you can grow, learn, and contribute meaningfully.
Consider Adam in the Garden of Eden. Before sin entered the world, Adam was in the perfect room – in complete harmony with God’s presence (Genesis 2:15). This was the ideal setting for growth, stewardship, and relationship with the Creator.
Being in the right room brings you into alignment with God’s design and purpose for your life.
In your journey, seek those rooms – a community, a ministry, or a personal practice – where you feel God’s presence most vividly. It might be a church group that challenges and nurtures your faith, or a quiet time of prayer and Scripture that renews your spirit. In these spaces, you’re not just physically present; you’re spiritually alive and receptive.
Think about the “rooms” you’re in. Are they places where you can be honest, vulnerable, and open to God’s work in your life? Are they environments where you can use your gifts to serve others and glorify God? If not, it might be time to seek new ‘rooms’ that align better with your spiritual journey.
Today’s One Thing
Pray: “Heavenly Father, guide me to the ‘right rooms’ where Your presence is felt, and Your purpose is clear. Help me to recognize the spaces and relationships that nurture my faith and allow me to serve You wholeheartedly. Grant me the wisdom to discern where You are leading me and the courage to step into new opportunities for growth and service. In Jesus’ name, Amen.”
