Bloom Where You Are Planted
Summer brings long days and warm breezes, inviting you to step into a season of growth and vibrant blooms right where you live. You are called to embrace the warmth, grow beyond mediocrity, and serve and love those around you. The summer months are a chance to express the fullness of your faith in the most practical and heartfelt ways.
For you were called to freedom, brothers. Only do not use your freedom as an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another.
– Galatians 5:13 ESV
Think about the last time you felt genuinely connected to your community. Perhaps it was a shared moment of joy or a collective effort during a time of need. This summer, you can be the catalyst for such moments. Whether it’s organizing a neighborhood clean-up or block party, volunteering at a local food bank, or simply inviting neighbors over for a meal, small acts of kindness and cooperation can bring a community closer together.
Serving others also allows you to discover and use your gifts in ways you might not have considered. Maybe you have a knack for gardening and could help beautify a public space. Or perhaps, you’re a good listener who could offer a sympathetic ear at a senior center. Many opportunities await you within your community. Look for something that fosters connection within your community.
Your freedom in Christ calls you to love and serve others.
Ask the Holy Spirit to guide you as you step out into service. Your acts of love and kindness reflect Jesus’ love. Serving isn’t about adding another task to your summer checklist; it’s about sharing the grace you’ve received and giving to others. You will discover that in these acts of service, your heart grows and will contain more joy, and you’ll find your spirit uplifted and a deeper sense of belonging.
Summer offers a unique platform for letting your actions and service speak of the love and freedom you’ve found in Christ. Season every encounter with grace and drive every effort with genuine affection.
Today’s One Thing
As you reflect on this call to love and serve, affirm yourself: “This summer, I am committed to blooming where I am planted, serving my community with love, and finding joy in the flourishing of those around me.”
