Boldness in Prayer
You know those moments when you’re unsure if you should ask for something big? It might be a new job opportunity, an outside person’s intervention, or a strained relationship change. You hesitate, wondering if it’s too much or if you’re even worthy to ask for divine intervention. But deep down in your soul, you know there’s something powerful and transformative about approaching God with boldness in prayer, especially when you ask in Jesus’ name.
Whatever you ask in my name, this I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.
– John 14:13 ESV
Growing in boldness in your prayer life starts with understanding Jesus’ authority. He is your advocate, your intercessor, and your Savior. He stands before the Father on your behalf. Believing and accepting this truth allows you to extend your faith in boldness so you can approach God without fear. Your boldness in prayer isn’t about your own righteousness but Jesus’ righteousness. You can come boldly before God because of what Christ has done.
When you ask in Jesus’ name, you acknowledge His complete authority, power, and love.
To grow in your prayer boldness, consider the following five recommendations:
- Spend time in the Word. Let God’s promises fill your heart and mind.
- Practice praying in Jesus’ name with faith. When you end your prayers with “in Jesus’ name,” it becomes a declaration of faith in His power and authority.
- Trust that Jesus is interceding for you and that your prayers matter.
- Surround yourself with a community of believers who also value bold prayer. There’s strength in praying together, knowing that where two or three are gathered in Jesus’ name, He is there with you (Matthew 18:20).
- Encourage other believers to pray boldly and expectantly.
By accepting and believing in Christ as your Savior, you have been invited to come before God confidently. Jesus invites you into a deeper relationship where your desires align with God’s will.
Today’s One Thing
Search the Bible for God’s promises and affirm, “I choose to pray with boldness, asking in Jesus’ name, knowing that He intercedes for me and that my prayers glorify the Father. I trust His power and authority and am confident He hears and answers my prayers.”
