Change the World with Your Light

Let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.

─ Matthew 5:16 ESV

In the movie, The Aeronauts, Amelia Wren says, “You don’t change the world simply by looking at it. You change it through the way you choose to live in it.”

Have you ever been in a room when a certain person walked into it, and the whole atmosphere of the room changed? Certain people have a way of doing that. The radiance of their face, the joy in their voice, the excitement in their body language does something to others.

You are created to be a catalyst for the Kingdom of God. Your time in this world is meant to bring glory to God. You change the world each day by the choices you make. You can influence this world in a positive or negative way.

The words of Jesus in our verse today are clear.  “Your lives light up the world. Let others see your light from a distance, for how can you hide a city that stands on a hilltop? And who would light a lamp and then hide it in an obscure place? Instead, it’s placed where everyone in the house can benefit from its light. So don’t hide your light! Let it shine brightly before others, so that the commendable things you do will shine as light upon them, and then they will give their praise to your Father in heaven” (Matthew 5:14-16 TPT).

You have been infused with God’s light, and it’s given to you so that you can light up the world. That light is a gift to the world meant to be shared with all.
