Cheers from the Crowd
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! According to his great mercy, he has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead.
─ 1 Peter 1:3
A gift of encouragement is something that we all should have. Not only should we encourage one another, but we also need to receive encouragement in our faith on an ongoing basis.
One of those ways we’re encouraged is completely unseen. We have a cloud of witnesses, men and women of faith who have gone before us, surrounding us and cheer-leading us on (Hebrews 12:1). Picture them in heaven looking over the edge saying, “Stay at it; keep going; don’t give up; stay focused.”
Take a look at Hebrews 11, often referred to as the Hall of Faith. Listed are the names of the men and women who lived a life of faith. Their stories are a testament of God’s faithfulness to them and to us. What God did for them, He will do for us too!
Another way we can grow our faith is to experience the biographies and autobiographies of great Christians. Experiencing their stories by reading them, or watching documentaries, gives us glimpses into their lives. The way in which they persevered to the end gives us hope that what God has done for them, He can do for us.
Intentional living is knowing God and then living for God. We all face difficulty and need encouragement from others to journey on.
Today’s One Thing
