Christmas Giving ─ Glorify God with Good Works

From the beginning of time, God planned to give you an eternal gift, a plan that was spoken about throughout the Old Testament in prophecy, was realized with the birth of the Christ child and then completed with His resurrection.

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth.
─ John 1:1,2,14 ESV

God gave His only Son in exchange for you. He paid your ransom with the greatest demonstration of love for all time. He saved you from an empty life that you inherited from the fall of mankind. “God, after He spoke long ago to the fathers in the prophets in many portions and in many ways, in these last days has spoken to us in His Son, whom He appointed heir of all things, through whom He also made the world” (Hebrews 1:1-2 NAS).

Give the gift of good works so that others may see and glorify God.

Gift giving at Christmas is nothing new. Paul gives us the reason for God paying this ransom: Who gave Himself for us to redeem us from every lawless deed, and to purify for Himself a people of His own possession, zealous for good deeds. (Titus 2:14 NAS)

Rather than living an empty life, our sins were paid for. We are His people, and we do good deeds for the glory of God and for the benefit of those we serve.

The greatest gift ever given is eternal life. You can give God the gift of pointing others to Him through good works, not just at Christmas, but all year long!

Today’s One Thing
Only Christ can ransom a soul, but as you show love and kindness, doing good works for others, they may see the One who paid their ransom in you. Ask God to help you give the gift of good works to others starting today!
