Climbing Higher

With God’s strength, you can climb the mountain ahead of you.

God, the Lord, is my strength; he makes my feet like the deer’s; he makes me tread on my high places. – Habakkuk 3:19 ESV

While Habakkuk was waiting for the impending doom of the invasion of the Babylonians, he talked to God, asked Him questions and confessed his fears. Then he listened and put his trust in the Lord.

As Habakkuk humbled himself before God, he drew strength from Him to climb the mountain ahead, instead of feeling crushed by it and thinking the only way out was for the situation to change. His focus and perspective were altered.

Depending on God’s strength eases the uphill climb.

God understands your human frailty. He wants you to focus on Him and His provision. That is where your strength and security can be found. As you focus on Him, His faithfulness comes into sharp focus and your fears fade.

If you have ever seen deer in motion, you know they possess great strength, yet they seem light on their feet. They do not appear to be weighed down with a heavy load. This is what God wants for you. Depend on Him to get you over the mountain.

Today’s One Thing

Talk to God about your fears and questions. Tell Him of His faithfulness in your life thus far. Place your feet in the ready position to take on the challenge ahead in His strength.
