Continue Steadfastly in God’s Word
Satan is your enemy who will connive, twist, cheat and steal from you. He can twist things in your mind and steal your time and relationships away through truth twisting and lies. He is unapologetic about making your life difficult and challenging. One step toward countering methods to try to create chaos is to practice with the Sword of the Spirit (Ephesians 6).
Continue steadfastly in prayer, being watchful in it with thanksgiving.
– Colossians 4:2 ESV
When Jesus was tempted in the wilderness, He used the Sword of the Spirit to respond to the enemy’s temptations. Jesus is both supreme and human – God and man. He became a man when He was born of a virgin and lived His physical life on earth to become a living sacrifice for all who believe. As a man, He underwent the same growth process as you did. Luke 2 briefly explains that Jesus had to increase His wisdom and favor (knowledge and understanding) and relationships (socially and spiritually) as a part of His personal growth.
Jesus is our example of why reading and knowing God’s Word is essential to living a vibrant life. Scripture prepares you for kindness and to be battle ready when needed. Your spiritual preparation helps you recognize wrongful thinking (stinkin’ thinkin’) and helps you see Spirit-led opportunities.
Like Jesus, thrive in becoming prayerful and a student of God’s Word.
The busyness of life can cause your cup to be full. Often, this concept is used to describe too many tasks or responsibilities to accomplish or too many problems to resolve in a short amount of time. Your cup’s capacity is the Lord’s design, and He has given you the freedom to choose how you spend your time.
You can increase your wisdom and relationships by spending time with the Lord through prayer and Bible study. Like Jesus, thrive in becoming prayerful and a student of God’s Word.
Today’s One Thing
Pray: Father, thank you for caring for my well-being and surroundings. Please guide me as I seek your truths within Your Word. Holy Spirit, bring a passionate desire to my heart and mind to read the Bible, thirst for God’s truth and listen to You.
