Dance with the Spirit

Watching a beautifully choreographed dance or ice-skating performance between two individuals can be inspirational and invigorating. It is easily perceived that the couple has practiced together for countless hours and knows each other’s moves without hesitation. It’s been said this type of beautiful artistry is created only by having the right mindset, passion and dedication.

If we live by the Spirit, let us also keep in step with the Spirit. Let us not become conceited, provoking one another, envying one another.

─ Galatians 5:25-26 ESV

The dance between two provides a great illustration of your relationship with the Holy Spirit. Learning to stay in step with the Spirit doesn’t occur the instant you receive Christ. It requires commitment and a willingness to follow.

But Christ gives you the best teacher, protector and partner to guide you as soon as you give Him your life. Your sensitivity to hearing and understanding the Spirit comes with your commitment to listen and learn by spending time together. This commitment and your follow through to spend time with the Holy Spirit in prayer can result in you experiencing a bountiful amount of peace, energy, enthusiasm and assuredness.

The Holy Spirit is your perfect partner to guide your mindset and actions.

The beautiful part is that the Spirit is the lead and choreographs your steps as you journey and dance through life. While you will experience life’s challenges and beautiful moments, there is only one partner to guide you.

As a follower, spend time with the Spirit and allow yourself to be led as you commit to being a good listener. As you grow and deepen your relationship with the Spirit, your steps will sync with the Ultimate Partner.

Today’s One Thing

Read Galatians 5:16-25 and prayerfully consider asking the Holy Spirit to help you focus on the Lord and become more sensitive to hearing His voice, following His directions and consistently demonstrating the fruits of the Spirit.
