Examine Me, O God

Decisions, decisions, decisions… Are you ever uncertain about when to speak up, when to be still, or how to react? And yet, you have a deep desire to have peace. That kind of peace comes when you let God take the lead, pause, breathe deep, exhale slowly, and pray – asking God to search your heart and settle your spirit.

Search me, O God, and know my heart! Try me and know my thoughts!  And see if there be any grievous way in me, and lead me in  the way everlasting!
– Psalm 139:23-24 ESV

When you relinquish control and rely upon God, something powerful happens. You open the door for His peace to enter. You demonstrate faith by relinquishing your control and trusting God to do the work He can do.

Letting His peace rule in your decision-making looks like pausing before reacting. It sounds like an inward prayer instead of a harsh word. It feels like stepping away from fear and walking forward with quiet confidence. His peace actively guards your heart and mind when you bring everything to Him. This kind of peace refuses to be disrupted by the unnecessary.

Peace flows when you trust God to examine your heart.

When you ask God to examine you, you’re asking for clarity. You trust that the Holy Spirit will gently point out what’s getting in the way of peace. You might be holding onto bitterness or allowing fear to drive your decisions. God brings them to the surface so you can acknowledge them, and He can free you from them. That’s where the renewal begins—not in pretending everything is fine, but in letting Him make it right.

So, let today be a moment of renewal. Slow down. Ask God to search your heart and free you from things that are not His. Invite His peace to settle over your thoughts and direct your next step. Real change begins in the stillness, where God speaks and you listen.

Today’s One Thing
Pause and pray, “God, examine my heart and lead me in Your peace. I welcome Your presence and conviction to guide my decisions and renew my spirit.”
