Faith and Summer Challenges
Spring and summer storms can erupt suddenly, their winds strong and their skies dark. Chances are either you or someone you know has been affected by dreadful floods, strong winds, mudslides, hurricanes, tornados, or hail damage. Just as these storms can disrupt a clear day, unexpected difficulties in life can arise, challenging your peace and plans.
God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.
– Psalm 46:1 ESV
God is your refuge, especially when faced with personal trials. These challenges could be relational tensions testing your patience and love, or professional setbacks threatening your security and confidence. It’s easy to feel overwhelmed and isolated if you face these trials alone.
Yet, here is where your faith becomes your anchor. Just as God orchestrates the earth’s seasons, He helps you in your growth through each season’s challenges. God shapes your life, sometimes through the challenges of summer, to bring forth a greater yield in character, faith, and perseverance during the same or different seasons.
Let God be your shelter and source of power.
How, then, do you access His shelter, strength, and peace? It starts in the quiet and dedicated moments—perhaps early in the morning with the first light or in the evening as the world becomes quiet. He wants to have one-on-one time with you. In these moments, speak to Jesus about your challenges, fears, and hopes. As you dedicate this time to praying and listening, you will find His comfort and guidance are as real as the summer breeze.
As you continue to navigate this summer, let your heart hold onto the promise that you are never alone in any challenge. You can step forward in faith instead of withdrawing in fear when trouble appears. God’s help is always present, powerful, and personal. He hears you when you call and waits for you to enter the conversation so He can guide and direct you.
Today’s One Thing
Dedicate time to spend with the Lord and lay your challenges before Him. As you do this, affirm, “I choose to lean on God’s strength, knowing He is my refuge. With Him, I can navigate any storm and emerge stronger.”
