Forever Trustworthy
The Lord will perfect that which concerns me; Your mercy and loving-kindness, O Lord, endure forever—forsake not the works of Your own hands.
─ Psalm 138:8 AMPC
Jamie scanned the circle of men he stood with preparing to close out their time together in the Bible study. It was his turn to share his salvation story, something they did at the end of each small group. “As most of you know, he began, I’m a grandson of a preacher. I don’t remember a time when I didn’t know the Lord. I received Christ at the age of six.”
Jamie shuffled his feet, waiting for the words. “When my wife and I got married, the first five years were hell. We were young and dumb. Standing at the door of divorce, we finally prayed in agreement and asked the Lord to please save our marriage, and from then on, we’d go wherever He asked. Here I stand married to the same woman 35 years later, living for and serving the One who cannot lie. Throughout my life, even when I thought God wasn’t being faithful, in the end of whatever difficulty I faced, I found Him always worthy of my trust.”
God is forever faithful. The more you know Him, the more you can trust Him. He has the very best plans for us, even when we can’t see them. He perfects everything that concerns us. (Psalm 138:8).
We all have plans and dreams, and we work hard to see those dreams come true. The key is to ask God if those dreams and plans are a part of His purpose.
Today’s One Thing
What plans are you making today? Have you asked God about those plans? Take time today to obtain His counsel and follow His lead.
