Forgiveness, a Beautiful Gift to Yourself

Are you holding a grudge this Christmas? Maybe someone did something to you that seems absolutely unforgiveable. Certainly, their actions or behavior doesn’t warrant forgiveness in your eyes.

If you forgive others for the wrongs they do to you, your Father in heaven will forgive you. But if you don’t forgive others, your Father will not forgive your sins.
─ Matthew 6:14-15 CEV

Forgiving someone doesn’t mean you condone their actions. It doesn’t even require telling them you forgive them. It’s simply a decision you make by faith, to let go of the hurt, the pain and the injustice.

Maybe forgiveness is more for the forgiver than the forgiven.

Jesus said if you forgive others, the Heavenly Father will forgive you. But if you refuse to forgive, then the Father won’t forgive you. That can be hard to swallow. But God knows how the spiritual laws work. When you let go of the wrongs done to you, you actually set yourself free more than the person you have forgiven. God wants you to be free.

Maybe forgiveness is more for the forgiver than the forgiven.

Today’s One Thing
This Christmas, give grace and mercy to someone in your life. Forgive, if needed, and enjoy the liberty it brings.
