From Tears of Sorrow to Songs of Joy
God’s ability to restore life surpasses our ability to understand just how He does it. Mountain tops burn and grow back; broken bodies heal, and emotional scars can be made new in His miraculous power.
Those who sow with tears will reap with songs of joy. Those who go out weeping, carrying seed to sow, will return with songs of joy, carrying sheaves (heaping bundles) with them.
─ Psalm 126:5-6 NIV
Perhaps you feel like you just can’t hear any more bad news. Maybe anxiety and disappointment have visited you too many times last year. You’ve tried to fix it, and you just can’t!
Our verse today promises you can go out in the morning weeping and return with songs of joy. God is able to turn anything around. Nothing is outside His control.
Your harvest of joy is coming.
When you give your pain, hurt, sorrow and tears to God, He can make a way when you see no way. He wants to turn your grief into joy. He is able to bring good out of a tragic situation. It takes time to process the pain and give it all to God.
God is the great restorer. He desires to restore your joy. It requires patience and a desire to trust that your joy will return.
Today’s One Thing
As tears fall today, think about the joy you’ve experienced in the past. Believe your harvest of joy is coming. Open the door and invite Him to start the healing process.
And if you’re not currently in a place of sorrow, pray for those you know who are hurting. Ask God to restore joy in the lives of those you love.
