God’s Got You
“Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen.”
─ Hebrews 11:1
When Tara booked a waterfall hike as one of the excursions during a vacation with friends, they were all pretty surprised. “What’s the big deal,” she asked, “we’re just going to hike along the stream and look at waterfalls, right?”
Her friend Candace countered, “You do realize the waterfall hike you booked is scaling up and repelling down rock formations. It’s a pretty strenuous hike.”
Tara didn’t respond but the expression on her face revealed she’d not expected that. “Well, it’s too late now,” she said, her voice a little shaky. “I guess I’ll just have to embrace the journey. I’m not letting you go without me.”
Christopher, the guide, introduced himself and gave the group some instructions. Tara slipped over beside him and quietly told him she was a little nervous. “I won’t let you fall,” he assured her.
Sure enough, Tara lost footing and began to fall. Just as quickly as her foot slipped, Christopher’s face appeared above her. “I got you,” he said as he pulled her up.
Later that night as she laid on her sleeping bag under the stars, she looked up to the sky and realized her Heavenly Father had always been her Guide. She began thanking Him for the many times He’d held her up when she’d stumbled or caught her when she fell.
We can always count on God to catch us when we slip or fall.
