God’s Love Holds You Up

I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the Lord’s holy people, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ.

God’s Love Holds You Up

Love is a difficult thing to comprehend when the world speaks about it. It can mean so many different things. But in the context of God’s love, it’s clear. God IS love. He is never ending, eternal and unconditional. You can do nothing to make Him stop loving you. He loved you so much that He gave His Son as a ransom for you.

In our verses today, Paul says, “I pray ….” Paul is asking God on your behalf that you might be empowered and strengthened by His Spirit inside you, so that Christ lives from within you through faith. He hopes you’ll embrace this intentional life by becoming rooted just like a tree. You grow in love as you come to know just how deep and wide the love of Christ truly is.

It only takes a few minutes to join the family of God through your acceptance of Christ as your Savior, but it takes a lifelong commitment of growing and learning to be like Christ. We can’t please God by simply following the rules without the Spirit’s help. Instead of trying to live this life in your own power, allow God’s love to be your source of strength. And through Christ, His Spirit at work within you, gives you the strength to do all things.

When you have doubts, feel “less than” and need confidence to go the distance, remember God’s love. It’s like a flotation device that never fails to hold you up.
