Hand in Hand
Picture a playground filled with the laughter of children. One child runs excitedly but suddenly trips and falls, scraping their knee. Tears well up in their eyes as they sit on the ground, discouraged. But before they can feel alone, another child rushes to their side, extending a hand and offering a kind smile, as they help their friend to their feet.
If one part suffers, every part suffers with it; if one part is honored, every part rejoices with it.
— 1 Corinthians 12:26 NIV
This is the kind of care Paul describes when he talks about the Body of Christ. When one part suffers, we don’t ignore it—we respond. When one part rejoices, we celebrate. The church is not just a gathering of people; it is a family, meant to strengthen, protect, and uplift one another.
A heart of encouragement loves well, lifting each other up, guiding one another in truth and celebrating every victory together.
Holding each other accountable isn’t about pointing out flaws—it’s about building one another up in truth and grace. Just like a child helps a friend up after a fall, we can extend a hand to those who are struggling in their faith. Maybe someone in your life is feeling weary, battling doubts, or carrying burdens they feel they must bear alone. Your encouragement could be the very thing that helps them stand again.
Likewise, when a fellow believer achieves something great, we should be their loudest cheerleaders, rejoicing in their success. The beauty of the Body of Christ is that we are never meant to walk alone—God designed us to hold each other accountable, to strengthen one another, and to journey together in faith.
A simple act of kindness—a prayer, a message, a listening ear—can make all the difference. When we show up for one another, we reflect the love of Christ and strengthen the Body as a whole. Let’s be people who lift, love, and walk alongside each other in faith.
Today’s One Thing
Who in your life needs encouragement today? Maybe it’s a friend who’s been distant, someone struggling with their faith, or even a person who just accomplished something great. Reach out to them with a message, a prayer, or a kind word. Ask God to show you how you can strengthen the Body of Christ today.
