His Light from Inside

Again Jesus spoke to them, saying, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”

─ John 8:12 ESV

Mike and Cammie repainted almost every interior wall in their new home. One morning while blow drying her hair, Cammie looked out from her bathroom door to the hallway and noticed the hallway paint color looked gray rather than the peanut butter color she had painted it. She put down the blow dryer and walked into the bedroom to get a better look.

After she opened the blinds, she realized her perception of color was all about the light, or lack of it, coming through the hallway and intersecting with the light from the bathroom.

Light affects the perception of color in a room, just as the light of Christ in us affects the perception of what others see in us. In John 8:12, Jesus declared Himself the light of the world. He promised anyone who followed Him would no longer walk in darkness but experience the light of life.

When you choose to follow Christ, your focus should constantly be on Him. His life and light flows to you and through you. It’s all about His light inside of you. Let His light shine.
