How Do You Show Your Thanks to God?

People give God thanks in many ways, both privately and in their time with Him, and publicly, in the way they live their lives.

Sing to the Lord, all the earth! Tell of his salvation from day to day. Declare his glory among the nations, his marvelous works among all the peoples! For great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised.
─ 1 Chronicles 16:23-25 ESV

The verses above are part of a song found in 1 Chronicles 16:7-36 that demonstrate four elements of true thanksgiving –
Remembering what God has done in your life.
Telling others about it.
Giving God the glory publicly.
Offering your time and resources in service to God.

If you are truly thankful, your life will show it.

Your life is a living picture played out for all who are watching. You can never know who is observing you as you go throughout your day – a neighbor down the street, a crossing guard, a person who serves you at your favorite restaurant and those closest to you.

Each glimpse of your life that they have of you gives them a piece of your story. It can be a positive or negative image, depending on what was happening in your life at that time. But if you’re truly thankful, your life will show it.

Ask God to help you become aware of what others see each day in your life. As you learn more about the perspective others have, make whatever adjustments are necessary to live a life that pleases Him and points others toward a relationship with God.
