How Jesus Sees You
For the Lord sees not as man sees: man looks on the outward appearance, but the Lord looks on the heart.
-1 Samuel 16:7 ESV
What do you think Jesus sees when he looks at you? Jesus doesn’t look at you like the world does. He doesn’t see you with natural eyes but perceives your heart with spiritual lenses that show Him who you can become.
Mark 2:8 says Jesus perceived what was going on in the hearts of the scribes. He noticed people because He sincerely cared about them. Jesus saw their souls first instead of their stories. Their disgrace and humiliation fell away. Their interactions with Jesus transformed their lives when He gave them a glimpse of who they truly were – unique individuals, valued by their Creator.
Jesus sees the heart of man. “But the Lord said to Samuel, ‘Do not look on his appearance or on the height of his stature, because I have rejected him. For the Lord sees not as man sees: man looks on the outward appearance, but the Lord looks on the heart.’” (1 Samuel 16:7 ESV).
In Jesus’ eyes, you are not the culmination of your disappointments, sins or reputation. Jesus sees you by faith, becoming all that you were created to be.
