In the Real, Everyday Moments
It’s easy to believe that making a difference in someone’s life requires something big—grand gestures, major sacrifices, or extraordinary efforts. But more often than not, real impact happens in the small, everyday moments.
Anxiety in the heart of man causes depression, but a good word makes it glad.
– Proverbs 12:25 NKJV
Leo Buscaglia once said, “Too often we underestimate the power of a touch, a smile, a kind word, a listening ear, an honest compliment, or the smallest act of caring, all of which have the potential to turn a life around.”
Isn’t that beautiful? A simple act of kindness, something that costs you very little, can transform someone’s day—or even change the trajectory of their life.
Your kindness may be the very thing someone prayed for today.
Although Jesus performed miracles, He also changed lives through simple, meaningful acts. He touched the untouchable (Matthew 8:3). He noticed the unseen (Luke 19:5). He spoke words of hope to the broken (John 8:10-11). He listened to those others ignored.
Love is most often revealed in the ordinary. A warm embrace. A gentle smile. A word of encouragement at just the right moment. These are the things that remind people they are seen, valued, and loved.
You never know what someone is carrying. The woman in the checkout line may be battling loneliness. The coworker who always seems fine may be struggling in silence. The friend who hasn’t called in a while may need to hear that she matters. And you? You have the ability to shine God’s love into their lives through even the smallest gesture.
Today’s One Thing
Be intentional today. Take a moment to offer kindness to someone—a text, a compliment, a prayer, or a genuine “How are you?” Then, truly listen. Your small act may be the encouragement they desperately needed.
