Invite the Holy Spirit to Stir Your Heart

When we think about boldness in sharing the gospel, it’s easy to feel a little intimidated. What if I don’t have the right words? What if the timing isn’t right? Lydia’s story in Acts 16 reminds us that the Holy Spirit is the one who stirs hearts, guides conversations, and equips us to share the good news of Jesus.

“But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”
– Acts 1:8 NKJV

Lydia, a successful businesswoman from Thyatira, was already a worshiper of God when she met Paul by the river in Philippi. As Paul shared the gospel, the Holy Spirit moved in Lydia’s heart, opening her to respond. She and her household were baptized, and she immediately took action, offering her home to Paul and his companions as a place of hospitality and ministry.

This bold response wasn’t Lydia’s doing alone—it was the power of the Holy Spirit working in her. As Jesus promised in Acts 1:8, the Spirit empowers us to be His witnesses, giving us boldness, wisdom, and a willingness to act.

When the Holy Spirit stirs our hearts, He gives us the power to step out in faith, using what we have to point others to Jesus.

Sharing the gospel is more than speaking from a platform. Lydia used her resources—her home, her generosity, and her influence—to further the work of God. In the same way, the Holy Spirit equips each of us with unique opportunities to share Jesus, whether through words, acts of kindness, or a welcoming spirit.

You don’t have to be perfect or have all the answers. When the Holy Spirit moves in your life, He equips you to share the gospel in ways that are natural and impactful. Just as He stirred Lydia’s heart to take bold steps, He can stir your heart today to reach those around you.

We don’t need to be experts in theology to share the Good News. We simply need to respond to the Spirit’s prompting. Maybe it’s inviting a neighbor to coffee and sharing how God has been faithful in your life. Or perhaps it’s opening your home for a Bible study or supporting a missionary. Whatever the Spirit is stirring in you, trust that He will equip you to boldly share Jesus.

Today’s One Thing
Pray and ask the Holy Spirit to fill you with His power and guide you to someone who needs to hear about Jesus. Be ready to act on His leading—whether that means extending an invitation, sharing your testimony, or simply showing love in a tangible way.
