Keep Dreaming!

“The Lord is my strength and my song; he has become my salvation.”

─ Psalm 118:14

In 2010, Lynnette and Ron Lewis took a step of faith toward their dream and entered into the adoption home study circuit. That journey took them through highs and lows. Many people agreed and felt strongly that God would indeed give them babies. Some shared they felt strongly that they would have twins. People even expressed their faith by giving them baby gifts for twins.

Lynette wanted twin girls. Those baby girls were a dream in her heart – a promise from God. In January 2009, she journaled by faith, I will have twin girls, and she even wrote the names they had chosen for them in that same journal entry.

Over the years Lynette and Ron laid the dream down numerous times, but in December 2013, they decided to recertify their home study for adoption. They were given a slim chance and told not to put their hearts into it.

Shortly after, a birth mother called to interview them. Ron said it was a short, thirty-minute call. On Christmas eve, they received another call letting them know the birth mother, due in three weeks, had chosen them to adopt twin baby girls.

Their dreams suddenly became a reality overnight. The babies were born Christmas morning. Lynette and Ron’s four adult sons were overjoyed with the news. Christmas night, the couple flew to the birth location and held their baby girls in their arms. They stood amazed at God’s faithfulness and encouraged others to never give up their dreams.

Today’s One Thing

Do you have a dream that you’ve laid to the side? Take the time to ask God about it and allow His hope to inspire you to dream again.
