Lead a Life Worthy of Your Calling
Therefore I, a prisoner for serving the Lord, beg you to lead a life worthy of your calling, for you have been called by God.
─ Ephesians 4:1 NLT
Paul wrote many letters to the churches while in prison. What was he thinking about? His chains? His predicament? The lousy food? No, he was thinking about you. In his letter to the Ephesians, he begs you to lead a life worthy of your calling (Ephesians 4:1).
In his second letter to Timothy he says, “I was appointed to be a messenger of this Good News, an apostle, and a teacher. For this reason, I suffer as I do. However, I’m not ashamed. I know whom I trust. I’m convinced that he is able to protect what he had entrusted to me until that day” (2 Timothy 1:12-13 GW).
In all that Paul wrote, so what? What are you going to do? Who are you going to be? For Paul, his “so what” was to live a life worthy of his calling, regardless of the situation. His life inspires us to do the same.
